STORIES

...oogie boogie tea with your reading?
Oogie Boogie Tea (digital atwork, 2018)
Oogie Boogie Tea

These are things made mainly from words rather than paint or some other substantial stuff. I write stories short and long, and other made up things. I've been told I ought to refer to at least some of it as Magical Realism, which I take as quite a compliment, but it's just what comes out of my head.

Some are whole, some in progress, some are missing... none are published, though, so if you'd like to read anything properly, you'll have to either get it from me, here, or wait till some brilliant publisher or agent trips over this website and decides to make my stories into proper books.

The excerpts below are not illustrated, but most will be, with my own work, which is yet another large and slow ongoing project. Maybe we'll settle on some lost little island, with a really amazing little alternative power thingamajig, and I'll do it then....

Or maybe that virtually wandering publisher or agent will e-materialize....

The Complete Jellyfish Chronicles - cove

Novel

The farfetched story of an even more farfetched girl... the snap of a drawer, the flap of a butterfly wing, or a jellyfish’s wave can change the world.

A Coconut Yarn - book cover (design and artwork by Ann Cognito)

Short Story

Part fairy tale, part lesson in esoteric bio-botany, a strange tiny novel that might have been found neatly tucked into an old (uninhabited) coconut shell.

Probably a Novella

There's more to come along these lines, percolating nicely in my head, and I shall put it here when it falls out into words.

Work in progress.

The House in Left Field - book cover (design and artwork by Ann Cognito)

Novel

A counterfeit biography layering the past, present, and highly unlikely. Tangents are not always out of the way and epiphanies are not always out of the ordinary (nor are they under any obligation to make sense).
